Burger King is cooking up plans for what could be the world's most expensive takeaway - at £85 a time.

New burger will be much posherThe man in charge of its recipes, a former chef at London's Savoy Hotel, is "developing" a burger made from very upmarket ingredients.

The fast-food chain is aiming to launch the limited edition pattie in rich areas of London like Kensington and Chelsea, and affluent suburbs in other cities.

Customers will still be able to buy fries and fizzy drinks to go with it and the cheaper fast-food ranges will still be available.

It is all part of its plans to distance itself from rivals like McDonalds, which are regarded as "cheap and cheerful".

The firm told Sky News: "We are a quality company."

Burger King's New Product Development Director Mark Dowding, is currently working on the recipe at the firm's own kitchens.

Ingredients could include beef from Japanese Kobe cattle, garnished with foie gras and rare blue cheese, rather than ketchup and Cheddar slices.

Other extras could also include, for example, black truffles instead of mushrooms.

At £85, the price tag the would beat the previous record for a burger set two years ago in an exclusive New York restaurant.

London store Selfridges has also served up £80 sandwiches.

The company is looking to put the burger on sale in the next few months. Profits are expected to go to charity.

I have a love/hate relationship with virtual memory because of how prices are always falling. I absolutely hate buying SDs for my R4 / R4i at (what seems to be) a crazy bargain price only to see it become a whole lot cheaper a couple of weeks later.
